ARTHUR DENNIS
Secretary

Arthur Dennis is dedicated to serving children, families, and communities, driven by his early experiences with poverty and homelessness. With a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from Temple University, he taught reading for four years and won “New Teacher of the Year” in 2017.

Recognizing the impact of disinvestment in education, Arthur transitioned to community service, including coordinating a successful 2020 Illinois State Senate campaign and leading census efforts. He built and managed COVID-19 clinics in 2021 to reduce the virus’s spread.

Arthur is actively involved in associate boards, notably as Vice-President of the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League. As a leader in The People’s Lobby, Arthur played a key role in the successful defense of the Pretrial Fairness Act in 2022 and endorsed progressive candidates, contributing to the election of Mayor Brandon Johnson in 2023.

Currently working for Chicago Public Schools, Arthur supports the Teach Chicago Tomorrow Initiative, aiming to expand the teacher pipeline, especially in Black and Brown Schools. His overarching vision is to create a society where a child’s birth or zip code does not determine their fate.
